A Twist on Spring Cleaning

Don't just clean - reorganise, restyle and enjoy your new space!

Whether you are preparing for a summer rental, a spring sale or your home is in need of its annual spring clean – see our tips below for a twist on the annual spring clean.

  1. Declutter – by Donating to Charity

Put a large bag in everyone’s bedroom, especially the kids, and challenge them to fill it. Be sure to split any rubbish from genuine reusable items.

  1. Freshen Rooms by Swapping Accessories

It is amazing what a difference these changes can make to your rooms:

- swap rugs to different rooms

- swap wall art, cushions, vases etc to match the new colour scheme or feature piece

  1. Move Your Furniture Around

When you are moving furniture to clean those hard to get to spots, why not give it a new position. The layout of a room can really change the atmosphere and utility, leaving it feeling fresh and new.

  1. Clear Every Bench Top – then Start Again

Move ALL the accessories from  your kitchen bench, living and bathroom areas to your dining table. Clean the surfaces, wait  a few hours, then start with a fresh perspective. Less is often better, accessories tend to grow rather than decrease over time.

  1. Family Photos Reorganised

Old photographs and lack of new ones is a curse of modern times. Use your spring clean to print out some new ones, sort out some old ones and redo any frames around your home.

  1. Treat your Books like Accessories

As the kids get older it is fun to let them sort out the family bookshelf, they may need a buddy. Take time to dust, sort and display in new, creative ways.

  1. Bring Nature Inside

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on weekly flowers – sometimes just some leaves or herbs are enough to add that natural touch to a room.

This may take a couple of weekends, but once you are done, make yourself a cup of tea and sit in your new , favourite spot enjoying a book you haven’t picked up for years.
